Whats the hype around the Marquette Marathon? If a small-town marathon boasting (Lake) Superior views sounds like Heaven, this is your race! Our point-to-point course starts in Ishpeming and follows historic railroad corridors along the Iron Ore Heritage Trail. The wooded trail transitions from asphalt to crushed limestone and back before entering urban Marquette, where it hugs the shore of Lake Superior for much of the second half. A lakeshore loop in the closing miles offers a scenic distraction en route to the newly reimagined finish line beside the Superior Dome, the world’s largest wooden dome located on the campus of Northern Michigan University. Our course score of 100.92 makes us the 1st fastest marathon in the state of Michigan and the 28th fastest marathon course in the US
